It takes a village to raise a child. While it might not take a village to help you grow in your career, a supporting hand from someone who knows the industry is always helpful. Sharing experiences is something I have wanted to do since a long time. Being in the industry sometimes makes you feel you are treading uncharted waters all alone. But folks have walked the path before and have gone through the same struggles. If people started sharing wisdom, the industry would feel more welcoming and less intimidating to the newcomers who join us. I have been mentoring folks who know me personally unofficially since quite some time and I thought it was time to spread the love.
